Esquisse Four Cafe Chair

ESQUISSE FOUR CAFE CHAIR
Using only flat sheet balsa wood and wire (no glue or fixings) we were to create a cafe style chair at 1:5 scale. My design uses both materials in synergy to create a chair that could hold a person at full scale.

Esquisse Three: Function

ESQUISSE THREE: FUNCTION

Using only flat sheet balsa and wire (no glue or fixings) we were to create at least one chair design based on function. My design is based on a deck chair and it uses both materials in synergy to create chair that could hold a person at full scale.

Esquisse Three: Form

ESQUISSE THREE: FORM

Using only flat sheet balsa and wire (no glue or fixings) we were to create at least one chair design based on form. My design is based on a nail scrubbing brush and it uses both materials in synergy to create chair that could hold a person at full scale.

Esquisse Two

ESQUISSE TWO

Using only flat sheet balsa and wire (no glue or fixings) we were to create at least 3 locking systems that marry the wood and wire together. My designs are high tensile strengh locking system, locking pin locking system and spring compression locking system. All my locking systems use both materials in synergy to create a high strengh lock.

Esquisse One

ESQUISSE ONE
Using only 1mm balsa and 1mm wire we were to create a four sided triangle at 100mm x 100mm, using a technique triangulation. My design uses the balsa wood as the body of the triangle and the wire as a locking mechanism. This allowing both materials to work in synergy.
